History of ACEC WI
In 1958, the organization was first established under the name Consulting Engineers Institute of Wisconsin. By 1988, CEIW became the Wisconsin Association of Consulting Engineers (WACE) and in 2002 evolved into the American Council of Engineering Companies of Wisconsin. Over the years, our membership has grown and changed, but we have always focused on meeting our members’ needs and representing the industry’s best interests.
Engineering techniques, methods and technologies have changed drastically since the time of our organization’s founding. Some of these changes and our history were chronicled as part of our 50th anniversary celebration in 2008. The special edition, 50th anniversary magazine profiles industry changes and how our members have been Building Wisconsin One Project at a Time.
Wonders of Wisconsin Engineering
As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we created the Wonders of Wisconsin Engineering competition, a special award program aimed at highlighting achievements in Wisconsin engineering. Submissions were projects completed by member firms in Wisconsin between 1958 and 2005. These historical projects are highlighted in our online gallery and special edition 50th anniversary magazine.
