'Engineering News-Record (ENR) recently released its Top 500 Engineering Design Firms list for 2021. In it, MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA) recognizes a 36-point rise in ranking from 2020 to 2021 to secure spot No. 300. This marks the 23rd year the company has earned a place on the ENR list, which recognizes the top one-half of one percent of the over 100,000 design firms in the country.
Considered the industry benchmark, ENR is widely regarded as the industry authority on providing news, analysis and data from the design and construction industries worldwide. The Top 500 list is an annual ranking of the largest U.S.-based firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue reported in the previous year. This year’s report reveals a strong market resiliency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, dominant transportation and building markets, as well as unique challenges pertaining to remote work and the balance of employee and organizational health.
MSA CEO Gil Hantzsch attributes the firm’s growth to its ability to remain nimble, to embrace challenges and to continue to work collaboratively as a group of employee-owners. “As an ESOP company, it is part of our company ethos to work together for the common good of our organization, as well as for the common good of our clients. 2020 had it’s challenges, but we were able to make the shift to remote work seamlessly thanks to our prior investments in technology and the agility of our staff.
