The city of Cedar Falls, recognized as a Great American Main Street, faced challenges with its historic parkade which was affected by aging infrastructure and outdated streetscapes. The city embarked on a transformative journey to revitalize the downtown core.

The project, spanning eleven city blocks, involved meticulous planning and coordination by Snyder & Associates. The team navigated challenges such as maintaining pedestrian access during construction, ensuring ADA compliance, monitoring vibrations to protect historical buildings and removing abandoned coal chutes without compromising structural integrity.

The detailed streetscape plan emphasized materials that reflect the area’s historical character while minimizing long-term maintenance. This attention to detail ensured that the client’s vision came true. The result was a successful integration of contemporary features into the historic district. The project was completed below budget and on time.

This engineering triumph ensures that Cedar Falls will continue to thrive as a vibrant, historically rich destination. The revitalized streetscape stands as a testament to the city's commitment to preserving its past while embracing a dynamic future.
