It is our greatest honor to recognize Kim Lobdell, PE, KL Engineering, with the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement award honors the legacy of members who had a profound impact on both the organization and the engineering profession. It was developed to recognize an elite group of influential members for significant contributions over the course of a career.

Kim’s successful career exemplifies integrity and excellence in civil engineering. Spurred by a deep-rooted passion for the field and uplifting society, she has worked tirelessly and earned a reputation as a trusted voice, resource, and respected leader in the civil engineering field and business. Kim’s dedication and service have enabled her to selflessly share her knowledge, insights, and experiences, which have strengthened the trajectory of the engineering profession. She has supported, inspired, and empowered students, budding engineers, women, and disadvantaged businesses.

“Kim’s career speaks of grit and determination, and her positive impact on the field will last for generations.” Ryan Schanhofer, PE

Kim recognizes the importance of being actively involved with ACEC Wisconsin because it is an influential advocate for the engineering industry and offers access to the resources firms need to navigate challenges, be innovative, and remain strong. Networking and collaborating to support others in engineering benefits the industry, firms, and individual engineers.

Her involvement began on the Transportation Committee, which led to serving as the committee Chair. She eventually joined the Board of Directors, beginning her service as Secretary-Treasurer where she kept a keen eye on the organization’s finances. Kim served as 2019-2020 Chair of the Board, skillfully navigating the organization through the early days of the global pandemic.

Beyond ACEC Wisconsin, Kim is highly involved in various volunteer roles. She is active in her local community serving as the City of Fitchburg as the Chair of the Transportation & Public Works Commission and Public Works Board Member. Kim also spent 15 years involved in the Girl Scots of Wisconsin. She has been active in Engineers Foundation of Wisconsin, MathCounts, and Women’s Transportation Seminar – Wisconsin Chapter.

The ACEC Wisconsin Lifetime Achievement Award is an added honor to an already long list of honors and achievements:
