'The Wisconsin Wastewater Operators Association (WWOA) announced yesterday its selection of professional award recipients for 2026. Pat Morrow, PE, senior wastewater engineering team leader at MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA), was selected to receive this year’s Koby Crabtree Research & Education Award.
The Koby Crabtree award honors Dr. Koby Crabtree, a renowned wastewater microbiologist from Wausau, Wisconsin, known for being an engaging mentor and “teacher’s teacher” to wastewater plant operators. “In everything he [Koby Crabtree] did he was knowledgeable, thorough, and caring. Transfer of information, and more importantly, the understanding of the information were of the utmost importance to him.” The award recognizes individuals widely respected for their wastewater expertise and those who excel at educating others, contributing to industry problem-solving, and sharing technical information with colleagues in an understandable manner.
Pat Morrow joined MSA in 2003 and currently serves as a senior wastewater engineering team leader in the firm’s Rhinelander, Wisconsin, office. In this role he leads the planning, design, and construction of wastewater treatment facilities for municipal, industrial, and private-sector clients. Prior to his promotion to team leader, Pat served as a senior project engineer at MSA. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry from Lake Superior State University. Pat is also a Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
“I am truly honored to receive an award that bears Dr. Koby Crabtree's name,” remarked Pat Morrow. “Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to learn from many talented operators, engineers, and mentors who have generously shared their knowledge with me. This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the importance of education within the wastewater industry. The best solutions come from collaboration, and I've always believed that taking the time to teach, mentor, and learn from one another makes our entire industry stronger."
All 2026 award winners were formally recognized at the WWOA 60th Annual Conference October 15 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
