Entering Firm: SEH
Client: Village of Jackson

Rapid growth in the Village of Jackson created an urgent housing shortage, leaving families with few attainable options and placing added strain on local infrastructure. The Oaks of Jackson was conceived to address this need by providing cost-effective homes without compromising quality. Achieving this balance posed a challenge due to site constraints and the desire to make housing affordable for first-time homeowners.

Engineers minimized costs while designing a brand-new neighborhood for affordable, high-quality homes.

SEH developed a solution that delivered for the client and prospective homeowners. By using natural stormwater systems, creative site grading, and reusing materials on site, costs were minimized. Efficient street and utility layouts saved additional money and create a safe neighborhood for residents. Careful coordination with the Village and other stakeholders addressed planning issues early, allowing the team to keep working and improving housing density.

The Oaks of Jackson is the area’s first Next Generation Homes Initiative project, functioning as a model for other communities to follow. The result is not only a neighborhood of attainable homes but also a living example of engineering’s ability to solve social challenges, elevate public trust, and set new standards for innovation.
