ACEC National is pleased to announce that Linda Bauer Darr has been confirmed as the new President and CEO of the organization. ACEC WI Chair-elect Kim Lobdell and National Director John Kissinger traveled to Washington, DC to vote for Wisconsin’s approval of Linda. Her bio and some brief comments are below:

‘A broadly experienced association executive, Linda spent last 4 years as CEO at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) where she followed Army General Timmons, was able to bring about positive change and grow the reputation and stature of ASLRRA.  Prior to that Linda led the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) as CEO from 2007 – 2014 where she replaced a leader who had been in that role for 27 years.   She also  served as Senior Vice President for Policy & Communications at the American Bus Association, (ABA) and Vice President for International Affairs at the American Trucking Associations (ATA).  Between her assignments at ATA and AMSA, she was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary, Budget and Programs at the U.S. Department of Transportation where she managed a $50B annual budget.  As a side note, Linda started her career working for an engineering company.

Linda is a Washington area native, a graduate of University of Maryland and has completed Executive Education Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.  She is a proud mom of twin 22 year old boys and a 24 year old daughter.

Linda is excited to join our team.  During the interview process she said, "My goal at ACEC will be to make sure we help you meet your potential both as individuals and as an industry.  And that the value you create will be supported, your efforts will flourish, and this industry will be recognized and rewarded with the tools necessary for even greater success."  She also shared her definition of our industry which I would like to share with you, "In its most powerful form, the engineering industry stimulates people's minds to achieve lofty goals.  By doing so engineers connect vision with ability bridging a gap, creating solutions and making possible what previously was not."’

Congratulations to Linda and good luck on her leadership of ACEC National.
